Statement of the Steering Committee on escalation of violence in EaP countriesTagged under Steering Committee, Statements The Steering Committee of the EaP CSF is deeply concerned about the escalation of violence and hostilities in the territory of the EaP countries and therefore adopted on 5 February a statement on this topic. Military actions impede the implementation of democratic and economic reforms and lead to a tragic number of victims. The Steering Committee strongly condemns any act aimed at the further escalation of violence. It demands the immediate termination of the Russian aggression towards Ukraine and encroachment on its independence and calls upon the international community to tighten sanctions on Russia. They call upon the international community to increase financial and humanitarian support to Ukraine to face the humanitarian situation and to stop Russian aggression. The statement calls for the respect of the ceasefire and for a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict, and for the Co-Chairs of OSCE Minsk Group to increase diplomatic efforts in that regard. The statement demands from Russia to stop the crawling annexation and borderisations of the occupied territories of Georgia, to withdraw armed forces from occupied territories and to respect the Medvedev-Sarkozy agreement. The Steering Committee demands from Russia to withdraw its army and weapons from the territory of Moldova. Finally, they call upon the immediate termination of hate speech and propaganda of xenophobia, intolerance and war in Russia and the Eastern Partnership countries.
